Swimming lessons

Kat Clarke

22nd March 2018

Some people see the value in swimming lessons, teaching themselves or children to swim. They hope it will teach them to respect the water, to enjoy its benefits, to be disciplined and push themselves to swim further, learn other strokes, competing and striving for badges.

Some won’t. They’ll teach themselves,  take one or two lessons until they grasp the basics. They’ve seen other swimmers do the work, move their arms and legs in the water. They’ve got the gear, they look the part.

Business is much like an expanse of water. Not knowing how deep or cold the water is,  edging in gently is wise. Start ups are like a puddle – feet on the bottom, safe and secure in a small pool. In time, as the business grows, theres’s a bit more water pressure to deal with.

As the pressure continues, how will a self taught swimmer cope? Who will tread water, look for a way to safety?  Who shouts for help when they need rescuing?
